Tried some of The Glenlivet 12 this evening. Nose is heavy with brown sugar, molasses, and heat. Nice caramel and grape candy tastes, with a continuation of the grape in the finish. Tonight we had Virgil Kaine’s Robber Baron Rye Whiskey. First off, beautiful label art. I love a good description on the bottle too. We start off with almost a campfire, toasted oak on the nose. Then delve into candy caramels and heat with the first sip. Hints of honey, vanilla, and oak are certainly present, but I still go back to the candy caramel (think Werther’s Original). All of that wrapped up in a nice spicy rye-ness. Very cool team. Nice offering from some neighbors. We’ll see you #inthegarage at #BowtieBarbecueCo. Day 7, the final day or #americancraftbeerweek2016. We’ve got an offering from @wickedweedbrewing. Tyranny is a red IPA, and it delivers on that. Nice and malty but with some spicy hops and fruitiness not too common to the regular red ale. A nice bridge between the styles for sure.
